Empowering People’s Independence (EPI) currently has a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) position available to work in our local residential program.
We are looking for caring individuals to provide support for people with developmental disabilities to improve their health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion.
Job Purpose:
The Registered Nurse is primarily responsible for the coordination of medical services for persons supported in our residential settings, under the auspices of Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
Responsible for training current and new-hire staff on Medication Administration, Diabetes education, colostomy /tube feedings, bloodborne pathogens, Infection control, safety, personal care, plans of nursing services and various healthcare issues, to ensure the health and safety of persons supported.
• Maintain all medical records for assigned locations; act as a liaison to pharmacy
• Complete semiannual and annual nursing assessments
• Attend medical and specialist appointments for persons supported as needed.
• Promote workplace safety.
Education and Experience:
Current NYS Registered Nurse License – Experience with brain injury and/or developmental disability preferred.
Qualifications:
• Maintain a valid New York State driver's license; Travel is necessary; therefore, a vehicle is required to perform the job.
• Complete all required training within 90 days of being hired and maintain all required trainings.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred and clinical medical record keeping systems..
• Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all persons supported and employees within various levels of the organization.

Pay for this position is:
$68,000/year-$72,000/year
